Our History and Foundation
The Goldsboro Family YMCA has been serving our community since 1980. From our first programs offered at local sites to the opening of our main facility in 1984, and the later development of our Sports Complex and youth program facilities, the Y has grown to meet the evolving needs of Wayne County families.
The Y is more than fitness, sports, or youth programs—it is a community dedicated to building healthy, confident, and connected children, families, and adults. Guided by our mission, we provide programs and resources that nurture youth development, promote healthy living, and foster social responsibility.
Founded in London in 1844, the YMCA is one of the world’s largest social service organizations, serving over 45 million people worldwide. Locally and globally, the Y brings people together, helps individuals reach their potential, and strengthens communities through programs that meet real needs.
At the Goldsboro Family YMCA, we are committed to helping every individual learn, grow, and thrive, while making a meaningful difference in Goldsboro and throughout Wayne County.
