  • Lifeguard Recertification: $165
  • Lifeguard Certification: $265 (includes lifeguard manual)
  • Lifeguard Instructor Certification: $325
  • Junior Lifeguarding Certification: $165

LIfe Guard Pre-Requisites

Candidates must be at least 15 years old and provide a government-issued ID. 
Candidates must be able to do the following:

  • Tread water for 2 minutes using only their legs - placing their hands under their armpits.
  • Swim 300 yard continuous swim demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. Swimming on the back or side is not allowed. 
  • Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. Candidates should place their hands under the armpits
  • Complete a timed event within 1 minute and 40 seconds: 
    • Start in the water and swim 20 yards
      Surface dive to 10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object
      Return to the surface, swim 20 yards back on your back to return with the object to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface so they are able to get a breath.
    • Candidates should not swim the distance underwater. Exit the water without using the ladder or steps.

American Red Cross Certification

Attendance at all classes is mandatory. If a participant cannot make all class times, the participant does not pass the course. There are no exceptions and no refunds. Please double-check dates and times prior to registration. 

- Active participation in all class sessions. 
- Demonstrate competency in all required skills. 
- Must demonstrate the necessary maturity and professionalism required of a lifeguard. 
- Demonstrate competency in three final scenarios. 
- Correctly answer at least 80% of the questions on both written exams.
