TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
There are a number of families in our community who are in need. The Y's Men Benefit Event is a way for you to help families in Wayne County this Christmas, and throughout the year. There are many different ways for you to participate!
The Goldsboro Family YMCA works with agencies such as the Boys and Girls Club of Wayne County, Wayne Uplift Domestic Violence Program, Wayne County Public Schools and Seymour Johnson Air Force Base just to name a few. These agencies identify local families in need who don't receive assistance from anyone else at Christmas time. The families will gather at the Y and we will have volunteers to take the parent/guardian shopping, while other volunteers help to entertain the children.
For non-members that wish to join the Y, we will waive your joining fee if you bring in a minimum of a $50 gift card from a department store during our fall Joining Fee Special. Our 2017 fall Joining Fee Special runs from November 1 - December 15.
For others, you can help by donating money or gift cards. ALL donations go directly towards supporting these families. You can also volunteer on Y's Men night (late afternoon Sunday December 10th) to take a parent/guardian shopping for food, supplies and Christmas gifts. We also have opportunities to help with the children while we entertain and feed them here.
In 2016 we served over 80 families and dispersed approximately $35,000.00 in gift cards. Between gift cards, the meal, shoes, food and bicycles, and the Y memberships, it was approximately $81,600 in assistance. We were able to support 32 families throughout the year as well.
