BRUCE GRIFFIN- RETIREMENT ANNOUNCEMENT

It is with many mixed emotions that the Goldsboro Family YMCA Board of Directors announces the retirement of their CEO, Bruce Griffin, effective June 24th. Bruce has served as the CEO since November of 2018 and is completing his 35th of service to the YMCA movement with roles in Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Goldsboro, Asheville, Southeastern Pennsylvania, South Florida and while serving on the staff of the YMCA of the USA while residing in Northern Kentucky. While retiring from full-time employment, Bruce will continue to serve as a part-time consultant with the North Carolina Alliance of YMCAs where he will provide support to 25 YMCAs throughout the state in the areas of Strategic Planning, Board Governance, CEO Search and Coaching as well as Collaborations and Networking.

Jan Archer, Chair of the Board shared that “we are both disappointed yet happy for Bruce. His service to the Goldsboro Family YMCA, and the Wayne County Community, especially during a pandemic, has been quite positive” She added that the YMCA has navigated through the pandemic with steady growth in membership, child care, youth and adult programming and most importantly, significant support of community needs around childhood hunger. Archer believes that the Goldsboro Family YMCA is poised for continued growth and impact, and that the CEO position is a wonderful opportunity for a visionary leader and community advocate.
