Water Awareness Program

What is it? It’s a program designed to make the children of Wayne County water safe.
	Who is it for? It’s designed for children in the 4th & 5th grade.
What if our kids don’t know how to swim? That’s OK, it’s part of the purpose. We have wonderful swim instructors and swim lessons are built into the curriculum.
	Why? Because in 2000 among children under 14... 943 children died from unintentional drownings in the US. 174 were sent to the hospital and lived from near drownings in NC. 29 children died from unintentional drownings in the NC.
Where does this all take place? At the Goldsboro Family YMCA. We have a 50 Meter pool that accommodates small and large groups.
