Here is brief description of each of our swim levels.

Signing a child up for a class that is too low for their ability will create boredom and they will not benefit much from the class.

Signing them up for a class above their ability will put them way behind the rest of the class and make them feel as if they are not doing well.

Here is a listing of the current sessions of swimming lessons.  
Fall 2008
Registration Form

During the school year lessons are taught either 2 days a week (Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs) for 4 weeks or 1 day a week for 4 weeks (Mini Sessions). Over the course of the SUMMER SESSIONS' lesson will be taught 4 days a week (Mon-Thurs) for 2 weeks. 
All preschool (3-5 years old) lessons are 30 minutes long and have a student: teacher ration of 1:4. All youth and adult lessons are 45 minutes long with a student: teacher ratio of 1:6. Private lessons are to be arranged with the aquatics director prior to registering for classes.

Preschool Swim levels


LIL' Pike & Pike (Beginner)
This level is for beginners who are not very comfortable in the water and cannot swim on their own. Children will learn to blow bubbles, float on their front and back, kick and swim with a floatation support. Lil' Pike Classes are for 3 year olds, where as the Pike class is for 4-5 year olds.

Eel (Advanced Beginner)
It is for children who can swim a small distance by themselves and are comfortable in the water. They are taught to flutter kick, float, and are able to perform the paddle stroke across the pool without assistance by the end of this level.

Ray/Starfish (Intermediate/Advanced)
At this combined level children review previous skills, improve stroke skills, build endurance by swimming on their backs, and learn to tread water. They will learn underwater swimming skills. Children can swim the length of the pool on front and back at the end of this level. 


Youth Swim levels


Polliwog & Super Polliwog (Beginner)
This is for children who cannot swim, or only a small distance by themselves. 
They will learn basic swimming and safety skills. They will practice kicking on their back & front, and learn to swim on their front, back and side. The Super Polliwog classes are for those who have taken the Polliwog class but are not yet ready to advance to the Guppy level.



Guppy (Advanced Beginner)
This class is for children who are able to swim about 25 yards with out assistance.
They will learn swim greater distances, and tread in deep water. They will also learn to swim the front crawl with rotary breathing and the back crawl



Minnow (Intermediate)
This class is for children who can already swim the front and back crawl. It will refine
their strokes and introduce breaststroke and sidestroke. This class works a lot on
endurance and children should be able to swim 50 yards of each stroke.
